Sustainability and Stagger Lee's

Over the past few weeks while looking for new products and companies that supply products for Stagger Lee's I've decided to try and make more choices to make my company more sustainable.

What does that mean?

As we continue to add more products I'm going to be sourcing items, when possible, that are made with products that are easier on the environment and help reduce our waste on our planet.

How?

As our current shipping supplies are running low I've decided to make the switch to compostable, plant, or recycled products that will help reduce our residual carbon foot print. I've found more supply options that are either made of recycled plastics or that are made out of biodegradable materials.

Upon looking at compostable products there are many options that will break down naturally over time, in fact some items will break down in a matter of 6 months or less in certain situations (EI in the landfill).

I will be testing supplies to make sure that we are providing the same quality, I want to make sure items will be arriving just as safe and sound as they would with our previous supplies.

What else?

I've found some suppliers that deal with hemp for manufacturing clothing and accessories. Hemp is going to be a great alternative to cotton and plastic based options. Just to briefly touch on why hemp is better than the alternatives, hemp grows quickly, as a product it antimicrobial, uses zero pesticides to grow, and offers the same quality in threads and fabrics that we are all use to with more traditional materials.

A few of the things I have listed are just the start of my ideas that I'm looking to implement over the next few months to a year, while changes tend to happen slowly these are things that I would like to see change in the future for my products and for our business. I am looking forward to these new changes and will provide a lot more information on new items as the changes start occurring.
